Dieter Dammeier, a former police officer and now attorney, has negotiated 100's of police labor contracts. His success at the bargaining table has led to the point where he now represents more police associations in negotiating police labor contracts than any other attorney in California. You will learn from Mr. Dammeier the tricks and tools he has used over the years to obtain record breaking contracts for his clients. You will be able to develop a short term plan for those going into negotiations this year and a long term plan for future years to put you and your members into the best bargaining position possible.
Michael McGill, a partner at LDM who handles all the Firm's wage and overtime litigation will provide an update on the FLSA. It is anticipated that the pivital decision now infront of the Federal Court of Appeal will be decided on if and to what extent donning and doffing of police uniforms and equipment will be compensable.
Andrew Dawson, one of the Firm's senior attorneys and a favorite among the clients will discuss tactics on handling an internal affairs investigation. Andrew's track record is among the best in California when it comes to defending against disciplinary actions.
Adam Dombchick, a partner with the law firm of Gordon Edelstein, Krepack, Grant, Felton & Goldstein will provide an update on the everchanging Landscape of Workers Compensation. Adam and his Firm have become the go to firm for police officers in Southern California for Work Comp cases as a result of thier track record and client responsiveness.
Steve Pingel has helped "make the law" in the disability retirement field with precedent‑setting victories in the appellate courts. Supreme Court victories for employees include: Saad Morcos v. Los Angeles County Board of Retirement (1990); Rodney Pearl v. WCAB and University of California (2001); and Angelita Hoffman v. Board of Retirement (1986). In the United States Court of Appeals (9th Circuit), he and his team were victorious in obtaining a $250,000,000 judgment for thousands of California's police officers and firefighters in an age discrimination class action, Arnett et al. v. California Public Employees' Retirement System, et al.
